Your1voice will make a difference when you send messages to sponsors of inappropriate and violent programming.

Do you see a connection between graphic brutality on television and violence in society?

The Parents Television Council (PTC) has been added as the featured link on the
Your1Voice home page. PTC has been doing great work to discourage companies from advertising on television programs with inappropriate violence or sexual content, and has had significant success with their recent effort. To visit the PTC home page, click here:

February 15, 2001, CBS Survivor 2

On CBS Survivor2, in the popular Thursday night primetime slot, players vote each other out of the reality game to determine who will win a million dollars.  In the February 15 episode, a wild pig that wandered into the campsite of one of the two competing "tribes" was graphically slaughtered with a knife.

Before the scene, CBS flashed a disclaimer on the screen warning that the following sequence might not be appropriate for young children. Then, Michigan software publisher Michael Skupin hacked the pig to death in a scene typical of a bad slasher movie.

Your1voice will help  persuade CBS that graphic slaughter of animals during a prime time broadcast with millions of children and adolescent viewers is inappropriate.  You can count on CBS commentators to express concern over violent incidents reported daily on their news broadcasts, but what will they say their own network's graphic programming that increases the probability of their viewers acting out antisocial or violent behavior?

Your1voice will make a difference when sponsors receive a torrent of email from their customers who are offended by violent programming.  Like raindrops falling on the land, letters inspired by Your1voice will gather into trickles, then streams and powerful rivers until we are heard.

Will you send a message to these sponsors?

Your1voice will add contact information for more sponsors of violent and inappropriate programming as soon as time permits.  It is good to start with a small number of sponsors, because it focuses our attention, rather than diluting our effort over too many targets.

Chuck Anastasia, President of Your1voice has written and posted open letters to the top executives of each company listed as sponsors on the CBS Survivor 2 website.  The companies, and contact information are listed below.  Please contact each company and let them know that you are offended by their endorsement of graphic violence as prime time entertainment.  You write your own comments or cut and paste the sample text provided for each company and send them a hyperlink to these open letters on Your1voice.
