Three simple steps to make the world a better place.
This call to action suggests a series of three simple, common sense steps you can take to help curb violence. The first step spreads the word. This is simple and can be done right now. The third step is a self examination and commitment to practice nonviolence. The biggest impact may come from small changes in our own lives, and by clarifying and acknowledging our own values. The third step takes a little more effort and dedication, but doesn’t cost anything and will have a bigger impact as more people do it. The third step will develop a groundswell of market pressure to curb violence in the media and entertainment industries. If you've done the first three steps and still want to do more, please consider pledging your support as a volunteer, or by making a donation to Your1voice. Contact us by email if you have questions or ideas. We will incorporate your suggestions into these pages. Let us know about your efforts. How well do they work? Where did you have trouble? Do you need more help? This is easy and you can do it right now. Your1voice
is looking for strength and support from people who are offended by
violence. We are looking
for a lot of people. We
set a goal, to touch 200,000 people through Your1voice.
We will use email and the Internet to spread the word.
We have faith this goal will be exceeded by far.
We’re looking forward to asking our Internet service provider
to upgrade our web-hosting package because it can’t handle the
traffic. The
world will listen when Your1voice speaks for itself. Please
email your friends telling them about Your1voice.
Your1voice president, Chuck Anastasia, drafted open letters to the chief executives of each of the companies sponsoring CBS Survivor 2, which broadcast the graphic slaughter of a pig as prime time entertainment on February 15. Hyperlinks and email addresses are provided for you to send your own comments to these sponsors, you may copy and adapt a sample message to tell advertisers that their sponsorship of violence is offensive. We will add contact information for more sponsors of violent or inappropriate programming as time permits and Your1voice matures. Commit yourself to nonviolence Your1voice has adapted a pledge to non-violence from the Institute for Peace and Justice. The commitment requires an examination of self and making an effort to improve our own behavior in areas where we might have fallen into bad habits. Volunteer / DonationsInitially, Your1voice needs a few highly motivated and qualified people to join our leadership team. Over time, we will be looking for a broader range of help as the organization grows. Initial operating expenses and start-up costs are being financed by the founders. Our donations page lists items we are looking for to develop our infrastructure further. Your1voice prefers not to rely on soliciting monetary contributions over the internet; however, this is one way to achieve our mission. Please see our Volunteer / Donations page for more information. We are actively pursuing alternative fundraising methods. Please click Patronize our Affiliates for more information about that.
