Your1voice was, incorporated in February, 2001. Although incorporated as a non-profit, Your1voice has not yet applied for or obtained tax exempt status. This means that contributions to Your1voice are not currently considered tax deductible by the IRS. Your1voice will advocate prevention of violence most effectively by using a persuasive, but calm and respectful tone in all of our communications, and on these Web pages. VisionShort term,
Over time, as the organization matures, Your1voice will expand its activities. Your1voice will make a difference when many individuals join together and participate. For the longer run,
Financial IndependenceTo maintain its independence and flexibility, Your1voice will utilize a variety of mechanisms to fund operating expenses. Initial operating expenses and start-up costs are being financed by the founders. Your1voice is currently evaluating various promotional programs to provide an on-going source of funding, however we are concerned about avoiding commercial influences while obtaining the resources required to achieve our mission. Other financial support may be solicited from foundations, corporations, nonprofit organizations, the U.S. and other governments, and international agencies. We are not presently in a position to solicit or accept contributions over the internet, however, if you are interested in supporting this effort, please contact us by email at donations@your1voice.com. FoundersChuck Anastasia, the Founder and President is
General Manager of a small high technology consulting firm in Rhode Island.
Chuck’s professional background provides a mix of engineering, sales,
marketing and management skills. Chuck
has extensive experience managing distributed project teams.
Chuck knows how to get a lot done with a few resources. The Chief Financial Officer, Valerie, (VJ) Anastasia
is an Accountant at a community college in nearby Massachusetts.
She volunteered for many years as treasurer for a number of successful
non-profit organizations such as The Barrington Junior Women’s Club and the
House Corporation for the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at
University of Rhode Island. VJ has
many years of experience managing finances, tracking budgets and auditing.
VJ understands the big financial picture and keeps track of all the
details. We are looking for volunteers to assist Your1voice.
Your1voice is expected to grow rapidly.
Managing that growth will be a significant challenge.
For us, this is a part time effort, which has great potential to grow
much larger. Your1voice is expected
to break new ground in public advocacy. However,
we will learn from the success of other public advocacy / public service
organizations like MADD (Mother’s Against Drunk Driving) and Doctors Without
Borders. We try to teach our children right from wrong and give them
values like respecting people and respecting property of others.
We know that they learn more by what we do than what we say.
We work hard to provide them a good home.
We go to church every Sunday, but we are not usually crusaders.
We are independent voters, not affiliated with any political party,
although we seem to get more conservative as we get older. Chuck has written a few letters to the editor of the
Providence Journal newspaper over the years and gets some satisfaction out of
seeing them published; however their impact is fleeting.
Chuck was interviewed in February 2000; by a local television station,
about the RI health insurance crisis, but the broadcast had no
lasting effect. This is our effort
to make a real difference. We value life, peace and justice, and are very concerned
about the world our children are growing up in. Changing the world is not an easy thing to do. We are asking
for your help. The country is full
of people with values like ours. We will make a difference when we make our
voices heard. For now, this web site is the work of one family. Violence in society is just one of the issues that Your1voice is concerned about. In the long term, Your1voice will also advocate for life and other issues concerning responsible citizens. The domain name was chosen because it stands for grassroots advocacy, not one specific issue. The Your1voice domain is structured so that as the site matures, and other important issues evolve, they can be addressed at a high level. For the time being, our first priority will be to make a difference to reduce violence by persuading advertisers not to sponsor inappropriate or violent material. The initial activities of Your1voice are being financed by the founders. Additional capital will be required to achieve our goals and have a greater impact. You can contact us by email at: info@your1voice.com You can contact us by fax or voicemail at (208) 247-1574 * * Although Your1voice is headquartered in Rhode Island, our fax and voice mail number is currently based in Idaho because it a free service offered by efax.com. Your constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated.
