phase, the second phase will be organized some time in 2003. The following

Seventh Annual
Muslim Cultural Heritage Program, 2003
University of
Rhode Island
Theme:
Israel and
Palestine—Working toward Justice and Peace
Resolution 1: Issues of conflict between Israel and
Palestine- 1) Territorial
Sovereignty- occupation, security, water, airspace etc.; 2) Right of return
of refugees; 3) The status of Jerusalem; 4) Settlements. The conference should
be divided into segments to deal with these issues.
Resolution 2: The Israeli and Palestinian people
have learned from their long-sufferings that they need to live in peace. The
objective of this conference is to provide these people, including new voices
and fresh perspectives, with a forum to explore their aspirations for peace.
Resolution 3: The conference would invite experts on each of the above
issues listed in
Resolution 1, as well as skilled facilitators to manage and advance the
deliberations between the participants.
Resolution 4: A plenary session is to be scheduled
at the end of the four sessions to combine the resolutions produced into one
coherent declaration.
Resolution 5: The results of this conference are to be disseminated
widely.
Resolution 6: That the conference deliberations and
proceedings be premised on International Law.
